Training in New Hampshire as a GW nursing student
New Hampshire residents may apply to any GW online nursing program but the Acute Care ones, and the disclosures GW publishes rate its NP and midwifery programs as meeting New Hampshire's requirements. The Granite State's filing rule for visiting schools is aimed at pre-licensure programs, its NPs practice independently, and a New Hampshire multistate license travels to every compact neighbor except, for now, Massachusetts.

Nur 602.15(j), and whom it leaves out
New Hampshire does keep paperwork for visiting schools, but only one kind. A pre-licensure program approved in another state that contracts with New Hampshire facilities registers its intent with the Board and gives six weeks' warning before each planned placement. The set of filings looks like this:
- Form A, a petition renewed every year
- Part B, the Student Clinical Placement form, once per rotation
- One Clinical Preceptor Agreement per preceptor
- For visiting faculty who supervise in person: an unencumbered New Hampshire license, with the Board's faculty appointment form filed
OPLC, the state licensing office, lists RN-to-BSN and RN-to-MSN programs among those outside Board regulation, and every GW graduate student already holds an RN license. A loose end: Cornell's LII copy of the rule shows it lapsing on January 23, 2026, even though OPLC still cited it that January, and no readoption has been confirmed.
Full practice, and a hospital market in flux
AANP rates New Hampshire full practice, so a seasoned New Hampshire NP can take a student with no physician agreement in the picture. GW's filter still sits on top: an NP, MD, DO or CNM with two years in advanced practice, an unencumbered license and a fit with your course, detailed on preceptor requirements.
Most searches run through Manchester-Nashua, the Concord micropolitan area of about 158,000 people, and the roughly 459,000 New Hampshire residents counted in the Boston metro. Big names include Concord Hospital Health System, Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center under Dartmouth Health, and HCA Healthcare's Catholic Medical Center. SolutionHealth, the partnership that Elliot Health System and Southern New Hampshire Health formed, faced a July 2025 proposal from those boards to break it up, so confirm current signatory names when an agreement starts. New Hampshire has no preceptor incentive in the state sources we reviewed.
Your license: compact since 2018, with a gap to the south
Since January 19, 2018, the compact has applied in New Hampshire, so a resident's multistate license works at home and at sites in Maine, Vermont, Connecticut and Rhode Island. Massachusetts enacted the compact in November 2024, yet its board is still aiming for a May 2027 launch, so a Nashua-area student eyeing a practice over the border has to add a Massachusetts license first. Does my GW preceptor in New Hampshire sign the Board's Clinical Preceptor Agreement?
That form belongs to New Hampshire's pre-licensure filing set, and OPLC treats RN-to-MSN style programs as beyond the Board's reach. For a GW rotation the preceptor paperwork is GW's own: a license and bio or CV attached to your Site Prospector submission, plus the signed last page of GW's preceptor guide.
I live near the Vermont line. Can I train at a Vermont site?
Your New Hampshire multistate license covers Vermont, a compact member since 2022. The preceptor is where it gets harder: Vermont's Board of Nursing expects an APRN student's preceptor to be an APRN or physician holding a Vermont license, so a clinician licensed only in New Hampshire will not qualify there. Which New Hampshire clinicians fit GW's FNP courses?
GW's 2021 clinical placement guide steers NURS 6230 to internal medicine with no pediatric patients, splits NURS 6231 between OB/GYN and pediatrics, and puts NURS 6232 in family practice. A family NP or physician suits the final course; the first two may need different preceptors. Confirm current settings in your course and see FNP clinical courses.
How soon after a New Hampshire preceptor agrees can I start?
Only after GW clears you. The preceptor goes into CORE through the Site Prospector, the program director reviews the match, the agreement is executed and your Complio items are complete.
