Nevada clinicals for GW nursing students
GW sets no limit on Nevada applicants, and its licensure disclosures say the NP and midwifery programs meet Nevada's requirements. The open question sits with the Nevada State Board of Nursing, whose regulation keeps internet-delivered programs from clinical teaching in the state until the Board says yes, and whose current roster of out-of-state programs includes no GW program.

Nevada is absent from GW's State Authorizations page, which names five states GW's online programs can't take plus four program-by-program exclusions. The state authorizations guide explains those, and GW admissions can confirm your program before you apply.

NAC 632.703 and the board's September 2026 roster
Nevada's regulation casts a wide net. Any school delivering part of its program in Nevada files the Board's form with proof of accreditation or approval, shows compliance with chapter 632, and submits annual school reports. Internet-based programs need the Board's sign-off before offering any clinical teaching in Nevada, and faculty who teach there must carry Nevada licenses. NAC 632.703 treats graduate schools the same as pre-licensure ones.
The Board's program list, updated September 1, 2026, has a section for schools from other states that bring only clinical rotations into Nevada. Every school in it offers a pre-licensure ADN or BSN, and GW does not appear. No public source says whether the Board expects graduate NP programs to apply.
So settle it early: ask the Clinical Placement Team whether GW can clear a Nevada site for your course before a preceptor commits time to you.
A Nevada preceptor's yes is only half the answer; GW's clearance and the Board question come first.
How precepting works under Nevada rules
AANP rates Nevada full practice, with a Schedule II limit: an NP must log 2,000 hours or two years of clinical practice before prescribing those drugs, unless a physician-approved protocol covers them. That dovetails with GW's 2021 guide, which asks preceptors for two years in advanced practice (see preceptor requirements).
A 2005 NSBN practice decision shapes precepted clinicals. Under it, faculty remain in charge of every clinical experience and must be reachable by phone; a preceptor, who has to be present on site, may take no more than two students at a time; and the program gives each preceptor an orientation plus written objectives.
In Las Vegas-Henderson-North Las Vegas, a metro of about 2.4 million, students look at the Dignity Health hospitals of Las Vegas and Henderson, The Valley Health System, Sunrise Health System (HCA) and University Medical Center of Southern Nevada. Reno, near 579,000 people, centers on Renown Health. These are search areas, not sites arranged for GW.
A Nevada license for Nevada patients
Nevada is not a compact member, and no bill to join is pending. An NSBN practice decision holds that care for a patient located in Nevada requires a Nevada license, including hands-on nursing education. A multistate license from Arizona, Utah or any other compact state will not cover a Las Vegas or Reno rotation.

Does Nevada's nursing board list GW as approved?
Not on the version updated September 1, 2026. Its section for schools from other states that bring only clinical rotations into Nevada covers pre-licensure ADN and BSN programs, and no graduate NP program appears. Ask GW's Clinical Placement Team how it approaches Nevada before you secure a site.
Can my Arizona multistate license cover a clinical rotation in Las Vegas?
No. Nevada is not a compact state, and the Board treats hands-on student care of Nevada patients as practice that needs a Nevada license. Plan on a Nevada RN license, which GW will also want uploaded in Complio before clearing the site.
Is there a cap on students per preceptor in Nevada?
Yes. A 2005 NSBN practice decision allows two students at a time per preceptor, who must be on site. GW publishes no numeric cap of its own, but a Nevada preceptor already hosting two learners from other schools cannot fit you in that term.
Do GW's disclosures say its NP program meets Nevada's requirements?
Yes. GW's licensure disclosures rate Nevada as meeting requirements for the MSN NP tracks, the NP DNP, the post-master's certificates and Nurse-Midwifery. That speaks to licensure education. Whether the Nevada Board has approved GW for in-state clinical instruction is a separate question.
What if GW can't clear a Nevada site for me?
GW's Clinical Placement Model sends you back to identifying another site, with ongoing intervention and support. A site in a neighboring state where you hold or obtain an RN license is one path, provided GW can clear it. Discuss timing with your program director so the course start isn't pushed back.
